'Jessamine' is a romantic novel set in the English countryside. Roy Fordham is excited to host his cousin Orrin Wyllys at his home in the countryside, where he meets Roy's friends. Among them is Eunice, the parson's eldest daughter who is looking for love and had looked forward to meet Wyllys courtesy of his cousin's generous description. But Wyllys overhears Eunice complain that she is unimpressed with him and that he doesn't fit the description that she had received. Amused rather than angry, Wyllys decides to agree to Roy's invitation to stay longer than earlier intended. Perhaps he might just change Eunice's mind about him after all
