For more than 25 years, Swiss architects Bernhard Aebi and Pascal Vincent have been running their practice with offices in Bern and Geneva. Housing is one of the firms main fields of activity, yet it has also won a number of high-profile public commissions, such as the restoration and reconstruction of Switzerlands national parliament building in Berne, the renovation of the Swiss National Banks Berne headquarters, and the south wing of Zurichs main train station. The images by photographers Adrian Scheidegger and Alexander Jaquemet, both longtime companions of the architects, demonstrate how the spaces they created gradually and naturally integrate with their environment. Writer Gianna Molinari joined Scheidegger and Jaquemet on their expeditions to Aebi & Vincents buildings. Her literary snapshots supplement the images in this volume, stimulating our imagination of the inner life of these structures and their occupants.

Alexander Jaquemet lebt und arbeitet als freischaffender Fotograf in Erlach am Bielersee. Bekannt ist er insbesondere für seine schwarz-weissen Landschaftsaufnahmen. Adrian Scheidegger lebt und arbeitet in Bern als freischaffender Künstler und Fotograf und als künstlerischer Berater für Farb- und Materialkonzepte von Aebi & Vincent Architekten. Gianna Molinari lebt und arbeitet als Schriftstellerin in Zürich. Ihr erster Roman Hier ist noch alles möglich (2018) war für den Deutschen und für den Schweizer Buchpreis nominiert, ihr neues Buch Hinter der Hecke die Welt erscheint im September 2023.
