Beschreibung
Accurate impressions are vital for the clinical success of any restorative dental procedure, more so in the field of Prosthodontics. An acceptable impression must register accurate details of the teeth and their contiguous oral integuments because the prosthesis can be no more accurate than the impression from which it has been made. Among the various impression materials available, silicone rubber and polyether impression materials fulfil many of the ideal requirements of elastic impression materials. Amongst the various advantages of the addition silicone impression materials, the most important are ability to provide repeated and delayed pours. Repeated pours mean the retrieval of extra casts from the same impression. These pours are required if cast obtained from the first pour is not satisfactory. It is advantageous when working casts and dies are required to educate and motivate the patient for example diagnostic mounting, diagnostic wax up etc.
