Beschreibung

The book Chosen Short Stories is an interactive material intended for History of the English Speaking Cultures and Integrated English Practice, though other courses may as well profit from it. It fills a gap in the bibliography needed in many of our teacher training universities and in the rapidly growing micro-universities all over the country. The old stock of books quickly deteriorates and our courses are organized on the bases of distance education serviced by modern means of access to information, mainly computers and databases more and more accessible from remote places. The short stories are followed by exercises. They result from our teaching experience and we strongly recommend their use as a guide for reading in the preparation of the meeting and for class debate. Though the intent of our courses is not to form literary professionals, the book has as complement brief biographies of the authors of the stories. This first version of the book covers a selection of British and American short stories, which will be enriched in future editions. We suggest the use of this material for your preparation and we hope that reading will enjoy.
